Brief introduction of the history background of "War of the red cliff"

AD 208 ,July to December

In the period the Three Kingdoms had came into being, The alliance between Sun Quan and Liu Bei defeated the invador Cao cao’s army utterly at Red Cliff,  Yangtze River. And the famous battle founded the condition tripartite confrontation of three kingdoms in Chinese history. This is called Battle of Red Cliff.

As Cao Cao unified north China, he prepared for anabasis of south actively, and even digged a manual lake in order to train his army with ability in adapting battle on rivers and lakes. In the 13th year of emperor Jian’an, Cao Cao built up a troop of 100 thousands and aimed the target Jingzhou City in the south.

On the map, Jingzhou city held the key-location in geographical situation of the war. And it was also the place where the temporal three orbits met.  As the aggressor came close, no one has the idea how to compose such an army to confrant with the most powerful warlord from north except Liu Bei. Liu sent Zhu Geliang as the emissary and persuaded the warlord Sun Quan to compose an alliance with him in fighting against the invader.  And then an 50 thousands’ army of resister was built up under the leading of famous general, Zhou Yu.  A great war in the history bursted out on the Yangtz River.

In the movie "Red Cliff" , the magnificent scenery in the Chinese classical literature is expressed in the help of modern technology.  This is another "Lord of the Ring" of China, not only win the box office, but also a key production in the cross between Chinese traditional culture and recent movice stage.
